"You Guys Should Plan Travel!" (So We Finally Did)

Bill and Carrolyn raise glasses of beer at a terrace table overlooking the 18th green and Carmel Bay at Pebble Beach, California, in 2012.

For about ten years now, Carrolyn and I have heard the same thing from friends, family and pretty much anyone who's scrolled through our photos: "You guys should plan travel!"

So we finally did. Here's how we got here.

A Mustang, the PCH, and a trip that changed everything

In 2012, Carrolyn and I were still just dating when we flew to California. We started in Los Angeles, rented a Mustang convertible, and drove up the Pacific Coast Highway with the top down. We stopped for lunch at Pebble Beach, wound our way up to San Francisco, and ended the trip at an Airbnb in Sonoma.

I didn't know it then, but that trip changed the course of my life. Somewhere between the cliffs, the ocean and the wine country, I realized I'd found the person I wanted to see the world with. We've been planning the next trip ever since.

Then came Victoria

In 2014, our daughter Victoria was born. She changed the way we travel, but not how much we wanted to.

I still remember carrying her down Main Street at Walt Disney World when she was 7 months old, watching her take it all in. Right after that she got her first passport, and at 11 months old she was on a plane to Turks and Caicos for our friends' wedding. By the time she was 5, she had more stamps in her passport than I did at 40.

Traveling with a little one taught us a lot: how to pace a day, which hotels really work for families, and how much planning makes the difference between a stressful trip and a magical one.

The deal hunters

Here's the other thing about us: we've always loved a good deal. We're the people comparing offers, watching for promotions and looking for every way to stretch a travel budget without giving up the experience.

A favorite example: a casino offer from Ocean Casino in Atlantic City turned into a Yacht Club cruise on MSC. That's the kind of thing that gets us excited, because travel doesn't have to cost a fortune to feel like a splurge.

The cruise ship MSC Grandiosa docked at Ocean Cay under a clear blue sky.

Why Edit Travel, and why now

After years of planning trips for ourselves and helping friends plan theirs, we decided to make it official. Carrolyn is now a travel advisor with Fora Travel, and together we started Edit Travel.

Carrolyn and Bill, in sunglasses and white summer clothes, smile for a selfie on their cruise ship balcony as the sun sets over the ocean behind them.

That means we can do even more for you than we could for ourselves, including perks like upgrades, breakfast and resort credits when they're available. Booking a hotel through us usually costs you nothing extra, and if your trip needs custom planning, we'll tell you up front.

We'll take everything we've learned, from honeymoon-style road trips to toddler-friendly Disney days to finding the smartest deal, and put it to work on your trip.

So, where to next?

Whether it's a weekend getaway, a family Disney trip, a cruise or the trip you've been talking about for years, we'd love to help you plan it.

Send us a trip brief and tell us what you're dreaming of. And follow along at @edittravelhq for more of our adventures.

We can't wait to plan yours.
